USA Corn Inspections

Source: USDA AMS — FGIS Export Grain Inspections (corn only). Region assigned by state (interior origin rows) via src/references/usa_state_to_regions_mapping.json (CORN_REGIONS), with port-to-region fallback via src/references/port_region_map.json for coastal export-point rows that have no state. The port map routes each port to the CORN_REGIONS bucket of its dominant interior origin (e.g. S./N. Texas → s_plains, Mississippi R. → river, Duluth-Sup → pnw), so interior-state and coastal rows from the same origin land in the same bucket.

Inspections vs GTT Census by Destination

Per-destination OLS of monthly GTT export volume on monthly FGIS inspection volume (US-reporter, HS 100590). GTT typically reports higher than FGIS because some shipments slip past inspection but show up in census data. The slope is the multiplier applied to current inspections to estimate eventual GTT. R² shows how reliably the relationship holds.
